The Pallet Project
The Pallet Project by Studiomama is upcycling at its best. Designer Nina Tolstrup reclaims wooden pallets and transforms these rough pieces of discarded packaging into clean-lined furniture. The assembly guidelines for the pallet pieces can be ordered online for 10 pounds, so the furniture can be created from reclaimed pallets anywhere in the world.
Nina has also given the idea over to photographer, Cecilia Glik , who co-ordinates a charity project to teach unemployed workers in Lugano, Buenos Aires, how to make the pallet furniture. The furniture is then sold locally, creating a source of income.
Gavin Turk, Cornelia Parker and Rachel Whiteread have supported the charity, customising a pallet chair each, which has been auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Lugano. Nina has given Mar Mar Co. a limited number of the Pallet chairs, made by herself. These will be sold with a percentage of the proceeds going to her charity. Please contact us for details.
